AVIV is dedicated to fulfilling the religious and social needs of the Gay, Lesbian, GLBT, Jewish community of Phoenix, Arizona. We are the first and only organization devoted to this goal in the greater Phoenix area.

Founded in the early 1980's under the name Mishpachat Am, AVIV was re-formed under its new name a decade later, in the early 1990's.

At AVIV, our doors are open to all people of the Jewish faith. We offer a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for social and religious gatherings, providing a balance of both for members and guests.

We hold Friday evening services once per month, either at a local synagogue or in the homes of our members. High Holiday services are also held each year. Some of our services are conducted by a Rabbi or Cantor, and we're pleased to have the support of the synagogue with which they're affiliated.

Usually, we schedule at least one social event per month. Recent activities have included a desert hike, a wine tasting event and Jewish Jeopardy. A few of our most popular events include our annual Passover Seder and Hanukkah/Latke party.
